They weren’t kidding when they listed “love” as a feature, the passion that went into this is clear. In a nutshell, this game asks “What if Wipeout, but no weapons?” A puritan approach to AG racing that instead focuses on fluid controls and interesting shield-for-agility gameplay that asks very plainly: Do you want speed, or do you want options?. Side-shunting to close the gap in turns at shield cost (and counter-shunting out of turns to give yourself a boost), banking orbs strategically placed as an alternative to boostpads to either give, on demand, more shield (with brief invulnerability) or give a straight-up forward boost, and of course the airbrakes for when things get too haywire, the mobility options in tandem with gameplay elements are just top notch.

The tracks so far are very dynamic, not just visually but featuring hallmark Wipeout-style technicals: Sweeping banks, off-camber banks, staggered platforms, chicanes, narrowing-and-widening, dramatic dips and ascents to climb, split paths, it all just feels right. Each track, fitting with their own aesthetic choices, offers a variety of locales that are both a visual treat and a masterful execution of high-tech AG track design, and that’s just from the few I have unlocked! Oh and the physics! In the vein of latter-day Wipeouts, crafts have weight and heft that swing into turns, and mass itself is now a variable of ship stats. Besides feeling fantastic, the physics and ship mechanics have me questioning what ships are suitable for what courses, as courses vary greatly in agility, technicality, and speed, and even between the two ships I’ve got so far, they’ve got tons of physical and technical expression that is honestly just a delight.

Ever since BallisticNG ruined me and my taste in AG racing games, I’ve been looking for the next thing to provide a similar forehead-against-brick-wall challenge in terms of potential mastery of mechanics and ArcRacer delivers in full! The movement and physics in this game feel incredible. Everything feels floatier than BallisticNG and the earlier WipeOut games in an extremely good way. The basics of navigating tracks are easy to understand but offer a proper meaty challenge to pull of properly at high speeds. FINAL FANTASY XVI

Overall, the physics feel closer to RedOut (and perhaps F-Zero, but I’ve never played any of those games) than BallisticNG, partly because the vehicles have the ability to strafe rather than use airbrakes to make sharp turns. This makes for some really interesting, initially counter intuitive ways of negotiating sharper turns that feel similar to opposite braking in WipeOut but with a fun, refreshing twist.
How Does ArcRacer Capture the Spirit of Classic Wipeout Titles?
The UI and menu work is incredible, and the whole vibe has MGS1 VR mission vibes, a virtual racing playground that takes me back to Wipeout Pure’s fantastic art direction and lore; a world that sought to supplant real world tracks within the limitless potential of cyberspace. The art, lore bits, and graphics are all deliberate, bold, delightfully animated, and works in harmony with the music to deliver a stunning, soulful presentation. Like, how am I having this much fun with menus?!

The music gets its own section. The short track list only serves in making me want more! Energetic synths with a deep bass undercurrent and unique percussive selection, it dances the line between F-ZERO/Outrun hype and the swingin’ drum and bass Wipeout was known for, I actually cannot get over how good this game sounds in conjunction with its actual game-bits. Devs, please, I will buy the soundtrack! TL;DR, this game is an absolute no-brainer for any fan of Wipeout and AG racing. Truly a game greater than the sum of its parts, the fantastic physics, brilliant track design, and banger soundtrack are all here. For a genre left to the people like it is now, it’s such a ray of hope to see that the “love” is still there. Farming Simulator 22

HOW TO CHANGE THE LANGUAGE OF A ANY GAME
1. Check the in-game settings and see if you can change it there. If not, continue down below. You might have to try and use Google Translate to figure out the in-game menus.

2a. Look for an .ini file in the game folder or subfolders. Could be called something like steam_emu.ini, steamconfig.ini, etc., but check all the .ini files. There should be a line for language/nickname that you can edit in notepad. If not, look for a “language” or “account_name” text file that you can edit. (If not in the game folder, try C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ SteamEmu Saves\settings). Save and open the game again.
