D’LIRIUM Video Game Free Download Repacklab. During the New Year’s Eve, the curator of a mansion built on the outskirts of a town invites his protégé and her friends to celebrate the New Year together. He gives her an unusual gift. The gift that is never meant to be opened. And only a powerful mage such as her can keep it shut. It and what it holds within. At least, that’s what the Curator thought… It is an experimental 2D-shooter with the elements of a horror game. The game brings together some mechanics back from 90s classics, such as a search for the keys, non-linear levels and a lot of other things. It is a Top-Down Shooter 2D Horror Game that focuses heavily on gratuitous gore and blood. As a 2D-Game gratuitous blood and gore tends to look pretty sloppy or rough if it is not done correctly. This game doing a somewhat decent job with it’s gratuitous bloodshed, gore and graphic imagery. (Especially in it’s death/game over sequences.) Though it lacks greatly in is it’s visual consistency. The backgrounds often shaded and detailed very generously while the character models themselves are very flatly colored with no real detail put into them aside an outline and their base colors.

Unpacking the Familiarity of Top-Down Shooter Dynamics

I feel the developers could have put a bit more work into the character models’ details, considered how much detail was put into the character portraits. The gameplay is similar to that of a typical top-down shooter indie game like Nuclear Throne or Enter The Gangean only without the fancy bells and whistles of dodging, different abilities and weapons or much variety in your means to fight off enemies. It could use a bit more variety in it’s means of offense if not some sort of power-up or upgrade system to make the player feel like they aren’t going through the game with the same attack over and over to make it feel less grueling. Most levels consist of exploring, looking for colored keys to progress through the level, various save-points due to the fair amount of challenge this game offers. You will die quite a bit whether it’s getting one-shotted by a ranged enemy or messing up on your teleport ability and teleporting into a pit. The use of flashlight often helping out in later stages in scoping the area for hidden ranged enemies or secrets. Your only means of attacking is a small fireball ranged attack or holding the attack button and charging it into a stronger blast.

Shaping the Battle Experience in Later Stages

Later in you find yourself having to use the charged blast more than rapidly firing small fireballs. Enemies often dying from about 2 charged blasts. Tougher enemies in later game taking 4 or more posing greater threat as they peruse and chase you around the level. My only complaint is the number of enemies capable of one-shot killing you. Most enemies in game looking very similar even for pony characters, clearly being edits or stronger versions of the previous enemy if not a blood-soaked recolor. I believe the intentional choice of aesthetics, embracing the black and red theme in line with the horror style, goes against the community’s perception of it as frowned upon or deemed unoriginal. The amount of levels feels short and drags on. It feels as if they only had a small pool of assets to use for level designs and dragged them on longer with the colored key door locks to make the most of them if not stretch gameplay out. While this game is still short it felt like the levels went on too long and there just weren’t enough of them. The dialogue is brokenly translated in a way that makes things just flatout confusing. You don’t know what’s going on, where you are, why you’re there or why any of the characters are doing what they are doing. With horror it’s good to leave some details missing to leave us guessing but in this case a little bit of exposition or introduction would have been very helpful if not needed.

Navigating the Unique Appeal of D’LIRIUM Gameplay

The dialogue near the end consists of laughably canned, edgy creepypasta-grade lines. I initially assumed it would resemble bad fanfiction, but it turned out to be badly translated fanfiction. I would highly suggest seeking out a better translator or someone to proof-read the game’s dialogue to help you sort things out for a future update. It would greatly benefit how others review your game and enjoy the horror experience you’ve made for us players. While D’LIRIUM isn’t the greatest in it’s assets being an indie game made by a small dedicated group of developers, it’s audio really shines with how eerie an atmosphere it gives the player.

This game may not be noteworthy, but it boasts excellent gameplay, providing me with a lot of enjoyment. I didn’t feel too discouraged by deaths or game overs. It holds an oddly charming yet edgy appeal, especially for those who have a fondness for the old days of fanfiction like “Cupcakes” or any kind of silly Creepypastas that unintentionally become a bit of a “beaten dead-horse” pun. It has smooth, solid controls so long as you chose the “SHOOTER” controls option, which I find to be the only one you SHOULD use when playing this. LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
