It’s hard to encompass just how masterfully the developers have paced every moment of Beloved Rapture. The story flow constantly moves at the perfect pace, giving the player endless character and story developments, blended perfectly with exploration, puzzles, secrets, and combat. The game never drags with one type for too long. It’s all broken up perfectly.

Beloved Rapture is a mid-length adventure, focusing heavily on the storytelling – exploring trauma, friendship, existentialism & LGBTQ+ themes. Combat in my opinion is perfectly balanced and exactly what I like. It’s not bogged down by endless overly complex systems, but has layers of depth that start to unfold quickly and don’t stop surprising you with new tactics to try out. The challenge level is perfect for me. I truly feel the challenge and have to think quick during boss battles to survive. One of my favorite things so far is just how well the feeling you get as you grow in power is. Every level and equipment upgrade really feels impactful. You feel the growth immediately and that is extremely addictive. The relica system is just flawless and the way the game makes you balance combat tactics is just perfect for my tastes.

Combat on classic mode has some teeth but is pretty chill for the most part. My favorite part is how rewarding all the exploration is. Every single area is dense with little treasures, pickups, and neat details. If I had one criticism, it is that the dialogue sometimes feels a little slow, but that’s a nitpick. At his side are Aiden, the mysterious son of an exiled warrior, who has trained since childhood in the mystic arts; and Crysta, a runaway noblewoman intent on ending the war before it reaches her family. Through his coming-of-age journey, Johan confronts the ghosts of his family trauma, his passions and sensuality, and ultimately his own demons. There are mature themes in the game, but not any that would typically be considered triggering. And there is 1 scene of violence that is more graphic than the rest of the game, as the standard battles have no real visual violence. A great game that follows the classic JRPG formula. The pixel art is beautiful and the attention to detail that the developers put into the level design.

HOW TO CHANGE THE LANGUAGE OF A ANY GAME
1. Check the in-game settings and see if you can change it there. If not, continue down below. You might have to try and use Google Translate to figure out the in-game menus.

2a. Look for an .ini file in the game folder or subfolders. Could be called something like steam_emu.ini, steamconfig.ini, etc., but check all the .ini files. There should be a line for language/nickname that you can edit in notepad. If not, look for a “language” or “account_name” text file that you can edit.
