even if they’re not individuals you’re directly influencing – and you can see how they’re feeling through their needs meters and indicators that show you the core emotion they’re dealing with. You’ll also see a list of hopes and desires, which you can also try to help with through the characters you influence at certain points. You also have to fill your needs, which are listed in a sidebar when you select a character. For example, all characters need to eat and sleep, but every character also has unique needs. DEVIATOR
Conny thrives when she has routine, solitude, and harmony, which she fulfils by doing things like sewing and writing in her diary. Other characters may have different needs, like Galya, who prioritises health and needs to exercise regularly and eat well, or Angie’s boyfriend Zek, who needs to feel accomplished by completing difficult tasks and distract himself from the state of things with TV and music. As the gorgeous, long-awaited next game from the Orwell devs.
Closer the Distance is heartbreaking from the moment it begins.
We hear a woman talking to her sister about the comfort it gives her to know that there’s always life going on around her, even when it has nothing to do with her. Her voice is gentle, almost loving as she talks about the people in Yesterby, the small, remote town they live in. Using her ethereal ability, you watch over her loved ones and try to help them navigate their grief by influencing them to fulfill their wishes, aspirations, or goals. To begin with, you help to direct Angela’s sister. Gym Manager
Conny, whose strong connection allows her to hear her sibling. Over the course of the game, you start to influence more residents that all have some kind of connection to Angela, and you’ll have multiple people to manage and watch over. Not unlike The Sims, they also have their own needs, like hunger and sleep, but every character has their own unique ones that can reflect their flaws, personalities, or the feelings they’re struggling with.
Each character also has their own wishes that are listed alongside their needs, and these will vary depending on what’s happening in the game.
For example, the day after Angie dies, Zek runs off to the lookout point to be alone. Angie tells Conny she should check on him, so that gets listed under her wishes. Clicking on it will zoom out on the map and highlight what actions Conny can take, and with who, to complete that task. In this case, there’s an illustration of Zek on the map, and you can click on it to choose to comfort him. Prioritizing a character’s needs while also making time for the things they feel they should be doing is a difficult balancing act. Car Manufacture
but it also beautifully externalises the struggle of grief – do you take care of yourself first, or do you try to take care of everybody else? Can you do both? What happens if you can’t pull it off? Closer the Distance is, in many ways, all about connection. Throughout the story, you get a window into the people of Yesterby’s lives. From the fractured relationships some share, to the fears and worries others harbor, I came to care for everyone in the little community.

HOW TO CHANGE THE LANGUAGE OF ANY GAME
1. Check the in-game settings and see if you can change it there. If not, continue down below. You might have to try and use Google Translate to figure out the in-game menus.
– Steam Games –
2a. Look for an .ini file in the game folder or subfolders. Could be called something like steam_emu.ini, steamconfig.ini, etc., but check all the .ini files. There should be a line for language/nickname that you can edit in notepad. If not, look for a “language” or “account_name” text file that you can edit. (If not in the game folder, try C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ SteamEmu Saves\settings). Save and open the game again.
– GOG Games –
2b. Same steps as Steam games except instead of .ini files, look for .info files
If these steps don’t work, then the files for the language you are looking for might not be included. We only check for English here.
