Crime Boss Rockay City Free Download Repacklab Crime Boss: Rockay City takes Payday’s potent formula and plops it in the middle of the decade that brought us bleached hair, dial-up internet, and the ’92-’93 Dallas Mavericks. Unfortunately, just like bleached hair, dial-up internet, and those 11-and-71 Dallas Mavericks, Crime Boss looks awful, is technically outclassed, and is full of embarrassing performances. And bog-standard blasting that’s unmemorable at its best and exasperating at its worst. On paper, Crime Boss: Rockay City is bombastic, star-studded, and promises a city-spanning adventure about a criminal organization’s rise to the top. The actual game, however, is anything but. The gameplay is unbalanced, buggy, repetitive, and boring. The celebrity-filled cast is exciting at first glance, but crude and humorless writing weighs down the already-phoned-in performances of characters voiced by Michael Madsen, Michael Rooker, Vanilla Ice, and more.

The single-player roguelite campaign lacks any of the genre’s typical hooks, and bugs can prevent progress at critical points in a run. Multiplayer works, but the two cooperative modes offer up the same mindlessly dull rotation of missions you’ll play dozens of times throughout the campaign. All of this combines to create an aimless package not worth playing with experiences executed significantly better in other games.  The star of the show, for better or worse, is the cast of Crime Boss. but instead of feeling like the great 1980s or ‘90s action B-movies the game is clearly aiming to invoke, where the corniness and cheese are played intentionally, the performances feel hollow. Put simply, the writing is bad. Rooker’s Captain Touchdown and Madsen’s Travis Baker are the worst offenders, constantly barking lines like, “Who’s the losers? They is! Who’s the winners? We is,” and calling rival gang members “fruitcakes.” Other barks, like characters referring to the Khan criminal organization as just the “Asian gang”

Once again, it’s a roll of the die, meaning the difference between life or death if caught in a bad spot.

Calling that same gang “savages” and “commies” feels lazy, at times offensive, and very much like a ‘90s action movie in the worst way.  First, I gotta talk about the cast. You’d hope that with a line up of big names from early 90s crime cinema, the performances could only be gold, but everything feels forced and as if they are bored. I suppose it’s what you get when you throw movie actors into voice actors territory; they just don’t give the same performance. It doesn’t help that the writing is cringe-worthy stuff. I felt like I was playing a GTA of old, with over-the-top clichéd stereotypes making the same jokes over and over, attempting to get a small giggle out of the audience. BalanCity

Michael Madsen is the star of the show as Travis Baker, sounding gravelly as ever and looking like Madsen in his prime. Then you have Kim Basinger, Vanilla Ice and Chuck Norris to name a few, all lending their likeness and voices to their roles. I think the main offender has to be Michael Rooker – who I adore by the way – with his character Touchdown who, you guessed it, makes a quip about American football every five minutes. It’s cute at first but after the fiftieth time, I was like, “yeah we get it, you like football!” This, on top of the non-stop child-like banter really grated on me after a while and I ended hating a few of the characters,

All I could see was their weapons floating in the air So I almost always lost these turf wars

In one scene, Vanilla Ice and one of his crew are repteated telling one of his groupies to “shut up, bitch” every time she interjects. Once again, it felt a little out of time for modern days audiences and a little cringe overall. The icing on the cake is Kahn’s gang often being referred to as just the “Asian gang” or “savages”. The dialogue is lazy and sometimes offensive. It’s obvious they wanted that mid nineties crime flick vibe, but they missed the mark and didn’t update it for a modern audience. A lot of this dialogue comes in the first of the three modes on offer: Baker’s Battle.

At face value, Crime Boss looks like a hearty deal. There are three separate ways to play, including a dedicated single-player campaign and two co-op focused modes. On top of that, Bon Jovi’s second-best song about cowboys is on the soundtrack, and Michael Madsen is here as leading man Travis Baker – and in a dapper hat, no less. This sees Travis Baker try to rise to the top of the Rockay crime world, battling against rival gangs and a determined Sheriff Norris in a bizzare roguelike adventure.
