Defender’s Quest 2: Mists of Ruin Video Game Free Download Repacklab. Many years ago, in 2012, there was a little-noticed game released titled Defender’s Quest. I certainly never would have noticed it myself if not for a confluence of events that wound up with me randomly playing the demo, but the fact that I did play the demo meant I absolutely fell head-over-heels in love with the game. It was a pitch-perfect melding of both tower defense and RPG mechanics, feeling like a breath of fresh air in many ways and catching me right by the heart. Of course… after years of no news on the sequel front, I had long since made my peace with the fact that it was gone. Not every game makes it, after all. Sometimes you really want to build a sequel but various elements just conspire against you. But then I saw the game was coming out and was ready for review, 13 years later, and I was overjoyed. It happened. We’re getting a second game in this series after all. But does it still hold up? 13 years later, does the sequel totally nail what made the first good while feeling like an evolution? Or does it turn out that the slow rollout has ultimately made what once felt novel now feel bland?

Engaging Plot Twists and Character Dynamics

One of the big things that made the original game such a fun experience is that right from the start, an emphasis was placed on the story. You were not just building towers, you were the leader of a party undertaking a dangerous quest. So it’s not a surprise that Defender’s Quest II throws you right into the story from the outset, told in a sequence of events as you move across the map. As the game opens, Evni Hunt, captain of the Reeves (a living transport ship), is escorting a researcher in her ship when it becomes clear that something is happening to the Shining Lands. The Mirk off the coast is rising up, vomiting up dangerous monsters made of Juice, potentially turning into a real threat for everyone living in the lands. Evni refuses to let this happen and promptly changes course, sending her crew into the Mirk to find out what’s going on and why. Need for Speed Underground 2

This would be a good place to start, but after the first boss encounter, your perspective shifts and you find out that said first boss is actually not just a one-off villain but a major character in the story, someone you are going to be taking control of as he seeks to protect his own home from our prior group of protagonists. From there… well, I don’t want to spoil the story, because that’s actually one of the big things that makes this so much fun. Suffice to say that the story takes twists and turns and keeps presenting you with more plot and more fun character dynamics.

Active Strategy and Unique Character Roles

Of course, none of that is an actual game to play. While the first game spent a lot of time explaining why your party is serving as towers by planting themselves in place, this game does not do so. But it doesn’t matter all that much. Your party gets placed as towers, enemies advance toward your ship, your goal is to make them all dead before they reach your ship. Like the original, each character has five levels of Boost in combat, which cost escalating amounts of Juice (earned by killing enemies) and unlocking a wider array of skills. Your ship also has cannon slots that serve as both direct damage and utility tools to clear out enemies, slow others, and so forth. Between battles, you can freely move around character skill points in remarkably detailed trees, with new skill options and the like becoming available as your characters level up; you also get to upgrade equipment along the way. In a departure from the first game, you don’t get to hire multiple characters who have the same skillset; each character has their own mechanics and that’s really the point. There are some characters who have similar general niches, but no exact duplicates. What’s also different with this game is that there’s much more of an emphasis on careful, active play. That’s not to say the prior game was passive, but rather that you spend much more of your time using cannons, managing abilities, and in one character’s case actively repositioning them. Everyone feels very distinct and unique, which is honestly a lot of fun to play with.

Defender’s Quest II: A Distinct Evolution with the Same Addictive Charm

Ultimately, it’d be wrong to say that Defender’s Quest II feels like more of the same; in visuals it’s very different and everything else feels like a distinct evolution from its original form. But it does feel like it has been made with the same sort of attention to detail and care as the first one. It carries all of the charm and memorability, and it also has that same addictive feeling of inspiring you to take on just one more round.

In other words, basically everything I liked about the first game has been either preserved or expanded, and there’s just not much to criticize. This is an amazing package, every bit as good as its predecessor, and if you never heard of that game that means you have two great games to play. Go try it out, because if the idea of a tower defense RPG sounds like a great concept, I assure you that this one nails it just as well as the first game. ONE PIECE: PIRATE WARRIORS 4
