As someone who has had the pleasure of playtesting this game and working closely with Refi, this is a MUST have for the tower defense genre. This game is a wonderful mix of both tower defense, rogue lites, and puzzles!
Attractive Graphics and Engaging Sound Design
Once you’ve got your maze set up, the real fun begins. You’ll have plenty of tower types, all unique in what they do. From poison towers that drench your foes in lethal goo to drone towers that actively search out and destroy, there are a ton of ways to try to play. One of my favorite towers is the D20, which adds a bit of luck to the mix with its variable damage output. The game’s roguelite elements ensure that no two runs are the same. After every battle, you gain experience with the opportunity to further upgrade your abilities by using a talent system that gives it a new flavor. Emberward’s graphic is attractive, drawn with specific details, although bizarre in style. The visuals are clear and intuitive, ensuring those strategic elements are easy to understand. The sound design fits right in with the rest of the game. There’s some cool audible feedback for each tower’s activity, with the sounds of enemies who dared enter your defense zone. For me, playing Emberward has been a blast. The first few missions drew me in with their straightforward mechanics and gradually increasing difficulty. I was hooked by the time I met my first boss.
Unique Fusion of Maze Building and Tower Defense
The fusion between maze building and tower defense is brilliant. Despite every run is unique and incredibly fun, sometimes it feels repetitive after you have played it for a long time. However, the problem is partly solved as you unlock new towers and abilities in the game. It is one of those titles that make a standout in the tower defense genre. The creative use of tetromino blocks and diverse tower mechanics gives a fresh and exciting experience. While there are some minor drawbacks, the game turns out engaging and addictive. The core gameplay revolves around placing various towers along your own maze of blocks. Think Tetris meets tower defense. On top of that, there is a roguelite element in which you have randomized loadouts of starting towers and abilities which you get more of as the game progresses. Each round, you will be faced with waves of enemies racing towards your “fire” which acts as your life. When monsters reach your fire, you will take damage. Once your fire reaches 0 hp, your run will end. There are two main components into keeping these monsters away: building tiles and towers.
Emberward Exceptional Developer Support and Replayability
At the start of a run, players get to choose from three difficulties: Casual, Normal, and Heroic (which is unlocked after defeating the boss in Normal mode!). Then, you get to select the world that you will be playing in. Then you once again get more choices, your character (which offers different buffs and quirks to the run) and a fire type. These choices will allow players to challenge themselves or build around their play style. Do you want massive blocks? Great, check out Chunk the Builder! Do you want to be able to hoard lots of money to be able to afford some bigger towers and upgrades? Then Silas the Merchant might be your guy!

This is an outstanding addition to my game library and constantly gets updates. A huge congratulations to Refi for being the ONLY developer working on this game. He responds quickly to all feedback and bug reports and fixes them as soon as possible. If you enjoy tower defense games in any way, I highly recommend picking up this game. HOW TO CHANGE THE LANGUAGE OF A ANY GAME
1. Check the in-game settings and see if you can change it there. If not, continue down below. You might have to try and use Google Translate to figure out the in-game menus.

2a. Look for an .ini file in the game folder or subfolders. Could be called something like steam_emu.ini, steamconfig.ini, etc., but check all the .ini files. There should be a line for language/nickname that you can edit in notepad. If not, look for a “language” or “account_name” text file that you can edit. (If not in the game folder, try C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ SteamEmu Saves\settings). Save and open the game again.
