You see how it loads all the add-ons at the start. The first night you hear a sound that gave you shivers. You would like to adjust the house to today’s standards but it is impossible because so much has changed in these 25 years. The TV is on the shelf, it is black, small and at the same time takes up a lot of space. You can’t afford a better one. With the layout of the rooms in the houses created by the Maxis studio, you wonder how on earth someone could live like that back then. And all this accompanied by “Mall Rat” and other hits because let’s face it – this soundtrack hits differently. expected nothing more. It is quite the experience to be able to go back and play the first Sims. So far have been enjoying it.  have only just begun and of course my funds are not so can spend to go out yet but to play and struggle is a good lesson.

Open-ended gameplay gives you the freedom to set your own goals and chart your Sims’ destinies. It is your neighborhood, and they are your Sims. Whether they prosper or perish is completely up to you. A true classic. This is where it all began. The game aged kinda badly, but it doesn’t matter, since it still runs better than The Sims 4 lmao. Not to mention, this is probably the darkest sims game and it can be quite scary. Amazing game, hands down. Excellent rerelease. Includes all the expansions, no requirement to sign into any EA services to play (the reference to EA accounts and Denuvo on the store page relates to the fact that buying this also adds the free-to-play version of The Sims 4 to your account), and runs considerably smoother than it ever did on the PC I first played it on back in 2000! Widescreen and hi-res support is good, but it would be nice to have a UI scale option.

A Nostalgic Return to the Beloved Series

Runs great, graphics look great for how old it is, haven’t crashed and the nostalgia runs deep. Not sure how other systems may run with it but I haven’t had issues at all. Worth a shot if you’re wanting to return to a classic that actually can run on a modern computer without a need to configure things (at least in my experience playing on a 1920×1080 resolution). Don’t go into it looking for a completely overhauled and new experience. It’s the same game, graphics are just cleaned up and it runs in 2025. I remember having regular access to and loved being creative and just having silly chaos happen with my sims. This was back in like 2006 when my parents got me The Sims Complete Collection after I begged for the Sims 2 (the first sims game I played at a friends house). As a kid I redecorated the various districts and houses and ran through all of the worlds just renovating and seeing what I could create. It was fun. So fast forward to 2025 and here I am again having so much fun with the simplicity of the original game that started the series. As someone who plays Project Zomboid a lot too I felt so at home

The Sims Legacy Collection The Sims 1 returns!

As someone who plays Sims 1 on the regular and has since 2000, it feels awesome to finally have a version to play in the modern day. This version is not for the faint of heart, but this game has so much charm to it that is lost in the newest iteration. I am aware that some are having resolution scaling problems, but that has not happened to me for some reason. In fact, my UI is HUGE in comparison but again, not sure why. I will say that the new updated zoom and all that is actually really nice. I did not expect them to give this game a good treatment, but here we are. The Sims 3 

Overall I do hate it’s a basically $20 game but I can’t wait to see the many hours I’ll get into just getting up to nonsense. These were such simpler times and while it does (obviously) miss a lot of the continuation and quality of life aspects we get during the Sims 2 through to the Sims 4, it’s a great reminder of why these games became popular in the first place. There is no limit or requirement of what you can be or do, just keep your sim alive and don’t burn the house the ground unless your sim (and you?) is an arsonist It’s not unplayable by any means
